[Edit]Pianist Niels Lan Doky's second date as a leader (he was 23 at the time) is as worthy as the first one. With bassist Niels Pedersen and drummer Jack DeJohnette, once again Lan Doky performs five hard bop-based originals, plus a lone standard, "Autumn in New York." Sometimes showing the slight influence of Oscar Peterson, Lan Doky more than holds his own with his illustrious sidemen. It seems strange that Niels Lan Doky (born in Denmark) has not become better known to American jazz audiences, for he is quite talented.
