Complain all you want about this release by Kenny Dixon, Jr. as Moodymann being only one-sided. It may not be big on quantity, but it compensates in terms of quality. The ten-minute track moves rather quickly with an up-tempo underlying rhythm composed of several percussive sounds that integrate a funky guitar riff into its loop. Every 30 seconds or so, the music comes to a halt, sounding as if someone has stopped the record with their hand. At other moments within the song, the sound of human voices in a bar or restaurant appear momentarily before drifting away. At another moment about three and a half minutes in, the song reaches a calm lull before rearranging itself. The rhythm gets reconstructed with a bongo sound while the guitar gets replaced by a piano. This second phase of the song has a faster pace and a stronger sense of rhythm, perfect for increasing the energy on a dancefloor.
