New York producer X-Ray Da Mindbenda has been putting in work for a long time now. He began his career in the late eighties, producing the single "Don't Scandalize Mine" b/w "Ready To Penetrate" for Long Island's Sugar Bear, got a deal on LOUD Records for his group Darc Mind in the mid-nineties, did some great soundtrack work (Soul In The Hole and Against The Ropes), and was a key player in the reemergence of MF DOOM. He was also the chief sonic architect for supercrew Monsta Island Czars, lacing the majority of their exceptional Escape From Monsta Island! LP. On Monster Mixes Vol 1, he raids the vaults for 16 rare and unreleased joints, featuring members of the M.I.C. as well as various co-conspirators and neighborhood homies. X-Ray's beats are on-point throughout, loaded with rugged percussion, unpredictable samples, and sinister vibes. Dope from beginning to end, with standouts like "Fast Lane" featuring Kurious, "Gorilla Warfare" with Megalon and Kong, and "Doomsday (Remix)."
