Despite the long list of pseudonymous credits for musicians with names like Heywood Uckizme and Hershey Meltalot, the Mistletoe Orchestra's Yuletide Follies sounds like the work of a one-man band with a Tone Bank keyboard. With 20 holiday standards set to a continuous club beat, a handful of anonymous vocalists processed and multi-tracked to sound like a multitude, and exclusively synthetic instrumentation, Yuletide Follies would be an archetypal holiday budget-bin package if not for its mid-line price. The concept is pretty silly, but the presentation is serious (except for "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," which is sung in a wacky voice). Yuletide Follies may be useful for the person who requires a nonstop hour-long program of disco-fied Christmas songs, but that is almost certain to be a very select audience.
