Eclectic composer and pianist Michel Wintsch calls this his "Road Movie" project, music which liner note writer Hans-Jügen Linke implies was composed for an undiscovered soundtrack, or as an "audio movie" played by ten "actors." The sounds are all over the place, from minimalist drones to intense bursts of free expression. The 11 performers include three strings and only two horns, sometimes lending an implicitly chamber feel. While landscapes do not change with nearly the frequency of a John Zorn pastiche, there is a constantly shifting center in which a hugely diverse range of textures is explored. Gerry Hemingway is a nice addition on percussion, and Franziska Baumann's vocals are enervating. There is an occasional lack of focus, but enough good music to make this a worthwhile purchase.
