[Edit]The liner notes of Mi Amigo, Machito describe a full sound. There is great separation, both of instrument sections and channels (in stereo). Loud and bright horns contribute to both the Latin bulk and the occasional variations in jazz ("Cooking Cooking") and exoticism ("Song of India," "Israeli Sha Sha Sha"). "No Down Payment" is a curious vocal selection co-written by guitarist Billy Mure. A giddiness runs throughout, campy at times but never boring. Mi Amigo, Machito also was released as Forum SF-9038.
