Given the string of troubling events that transpired in the United States in 2005, those who speak with mousy voices but still retain a high level of anger can be thankful that there's a man who shrieks constantly at the top of his lungs about those events, shredding his vocal tissue to it's thinnest: Lewis Black. This edition of Black's series of nonstop standup tirades was recorded at Carnegie Hall in September of 2005 and captures him on all eight cylinders, full-steam ahead into such subjects as Dr. Phil, Hurricane Katrina, gay marriage, and Terry Schiavo. He doesn't waiver in his delivery style at all, which is definitely a good thing for longtime fans who want to hear him at his angriest. But what separates the Carnegie Hall performance from his other work is his amazing stamina: two discs worth of profanity-laden venom that will have the most die-hard student of comedy drained by the performance's end. And if his parting shots are indicative of anything, it's that the worst is yet to come, and for Black fans that's a good thing. A simply outstanding session worthy of your total attention.
