Trevor Montgomery, an ex-member of both the Drift and Tarentel, recorded these spare and intimate songs in his bedroom and then handed his work off to Howard Hello's Marty Anderson, who performed the production duties. Montgomery's faint voice rarely cracks above a delicate room-listening volume level, while his similarly slight guitar — which often sounds reluctant to play additional notes when only one might provide the necessary accompaniment — slumps along apprehensively. Ambient noises come into play every so often, along with the odd embellishment of bells, organ, and other stringed instruments. It's true that the songs come off as lazy and even anemic, but there is a peculiar, cracked charm to them. This means that it fits right alongside other Temporary Residence releases without tarnishing the label's reputation.
