Think Skrillex's bass-droppin' punch mixed with Dada Life's sense of humor and you're close to the good-timing, ultra-pounding joy of Jake Stanczak's Kill the Noise project and its Black Magic EP. Here, during the title track, a choir sings this dubstep project's name as if it were EDM angels they have heard on high, then "Rockers" rocks a classic video game soundtrack before demolishing it all with a devastating bass drop. Stanczak isn't one to lay off the studio tricks, always chopping the melodies and making the rolling basslines jump through hoops, so if kinetic, fun-loving dubstep is what's required, the hyped-up Black Magic is here to melt minds, wreck speakers, and maybe even turn that frown upside down.
