1995's Rain marks the first collaboration between Kevin Braheny and fellow electronic music master Tim Clark. The duo explore the many emotions, sounds and settings of rain on this album, from the bluesy "Rainstreet" to the Irish-inspired "The Hills of Home" and the Latin beats of "Green Umbrella." Significantly, no samples or recordings of actual showers are used on Rain; instead, Braheny and Clark convey rain's evocative power with Braheny's unmistakable Steiner EWI, synths, piano and percussion. "Falling Like Tears" is brooding and sultry, with flourishes of gamelan accompaniment, and "Tidepool" brims with sonic splashes. An expressive album, Rain combines Braheny's and Clark's strengths for a beautiful result.
