Johnny Mathis didn't have many hits in the latter half of the '70s — actually, he only had two, which were both duets with Deniece Williams. The low number of hits would make Best of Johnny Mathis (1975-1980) unfamiliar territory for anyone but diehard fans, and matters are made worse by the fact that only the number one single "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late" is featured on the record; its successor — the number 47 "You're All I Need to Get By" — is nowhere to be seen. Nevertheless, there are many good performances on this ten-track collection, including "The Best Days of My Life," "The Last Time I Felt Like This" and "What I Did for Love," which makes it worthwhile for the fan who wants to dig a little deeper.
