The eclectic San Francisco blues singer and guitarist travels all his avenues on this album. The title track is a funky morality tale that draws on Walker's gospel background. "Repay My Love" is a smooth soul heartbreaker featuring Walker's clean-toned guitar trading phrases with his molasses-and-ashes voice. "Uhh!" is a shuffle with a hammering horn section, a six-string solo that ricochets between the single-note styles of B.B. King and Buddy Guy, and a couple of Walker's trademark falsetto whoops. And "My Real Fantasy" is a sweet love song, full of flashy little filigrees picked out by Walker and former Muscle Shoals session man Jimmy Johnson, who plays on four numbers. Produced by Stax Records legend Steve Cropper, this album is strictly journeyman blues. But there are few journeymen as musically adept or versatile as Walker.
