[Edit]After a wonderful phase, João Bosco has mixed results in his 16th album 22 years into his career. Over-produced, it doesn't breathe with Bosco's habitually visceral renditions. Standardized keyboards, mellifluous sax solos (as in "Momentos Rroubados"), pop, and Prince influences (in the funk "Dodô") don't help here. The lyrics also aren't that inspired, revolving around meaningless images. The jazzy "Babaçu Com Brubeck" has variations but no theme. Good melodic themes with less than desirable renditions are found in "Água, Mãe Água," in the bossa "Indeciso Coração," in the swinging "Babalu de Dakar," and in the blues-influenced "O Espírito de Dakar."
