Are they really the master mixers? Master imitators might be a better characterization of the indefatigable Jive Bunny and his energetic pals, who appear here in 1980s archetypes. There's the jive master himself, rocking a synth-ax and wearing a "Relax!" T. He's joined by a power-suited cat holding a huge cellular phone, "Bunny" Crockett, and a lion dressed like Michael Jackson. Money slowly piles up in the background, obscuring the enormous Pac Man grid. JB and his mates' talent for costuming is nothing new. However, Ultimate 80s Party's professional level of mimicry is quite notable. Who knew that power-suit cat sounded just like Philip Bailey? The Mastermixers run through 30 Me-Decade favorites on Ultimate, mashing them together in true Jive Bunny style. "Power of Love" leads into "1999," while the frenetic Madness fave "Baggy Trousers" lasts only a minute before morphing into Adam Ant's "Stand and Deliver." Best might be the opening mix, which ties the intro of "Express Yourself" to Wet Wet Wet's irresistible "Sweet Little Mystery." Once again, Jive Bunny and his furry friends have proven what a few forest animals can do with a bit of musical inclination and a whole lot of heart. Go Jive Bunny, go!
