This CD, using Robert Parker's innovative enginnering, brings 16 of pianist Jelly Roll Morton's better Victor recordings to life. This is a good sampling of Morton's sessions although it is not recommended to completists. Highlights include "Black Bottom Stomp," "Grandpa's Spells," "Beale Street Blues" and "You Need Some Loving," the latter with cornetist Johnny Dunn's band.
