An amicable nine-song EP that feels is as if it was turned around in a day (and, considering J Church's ability to churn out about 30 songs a year, that very well may be the case), Precession doesn't tread new ground, incorporating the same semi-lo-fi sensibilities to ever-impressive pop-punk songwriting. Numbers range from the midtempo roll of "Jennifer Jason Leigh" to the anthemic "Fascist Radio," but the real keeper here is the ferocious and defensive "Why I Liked Bikini Kill," about as angry as this trio gets. Still, at a relatively brisk 22 minutes, this one may be best left to diehard fans, despite the solid material.
