They helped Manchester become "Madchester" in the late ‘80s and early ’90 with a rock sound that demanded the dancefloor. Original singer and co-founder Stephen Holt left in 1989 before the band’s peak and returns here for the band’s fifth album—and first in 20 years. “Spitfire” and “You’re So Good to Me” were advance singles, while “A to Z of My Heart” and “Calling Out to You” deserve to be hits, with pulsing vintage organs and uber-catchy melodies. The ballad “Flying Like a Bird” reveals the band’s gentle side. Punk poet John Cooper Clarke cowrote and guests on the “Gloria”-like “Let You Down.”
