Impacto Crea's final Vaya effort is one of its best; after nearly a decade of performances, the group still had enough spark to shine, as time had allowed the band to develop greatly. Frankie Hernandez and newcomer Rafael "Rafú" Warner (who would shortly rise to fame with the Bobby Valentin Orchestra) proved to be excellent vocalists and did justice to a very interesting choice of material. Bandmembers Victor Colón and José A. Colón contributed to most of the repertoire; "Musa y Letra," "Venezuela," and "Homenaje a Lito Peña" are rather inspired pieces, and "Mi Barrio" and "Llora el Tambor" are commendable as well. Eliut Cintrón and Jimmy García (both future famous and longstanding members of Mulenze) participated, as did the ubiquitous bass player Polito Huertas and pianist Raymond Concepción (Ray Coen). A final chapter in the history of this Puerto Rican salsa orchestra. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr., Rovi
