This is the CD reissue of Hyldon's debut album, Na Rua, Na Chuva, Na Fazenda from 1975 — truly a landmark album in Brazilian soul. Uniting soul with MPB, Hyldon created a new, fresh sound that had never been heard before and that inspired and continues to inspire various generations of artists. The most famous songs of the album are the beautiful ballads "Na Sombra de Uma Árvore," "Na Rua, Na Chuva, Na Fazenda," and "As Dores do Mundo," all three with exquisite melodies, sweet lyrics, and a soft, very Brazilian soul groove. Other great tracks on the album include the elegant samba-soul of "Balanço do Meu Violão"; the silky funk of "Sábado e Domingo"; the luxurious, uplifting, and again strangely Brazilian pop of "Meu Patuá"; and the delightfully naïve "Vamos Passear de Bicicleta." With crisp sound and production, this is without a doubt Hyldon's best album, and one of the biggest classics of Brazilian soul. ~ Philip Jandovský, Rovi
