[Edit]The proper album debut by House of 909 is an excellent British house record — a bit more evocative than it is danceable. Still, the atmospherics on tracks like the title track and "So Much Love 4 You" give way to groovy house vocals. Occasionally, the trio leans just a bit too close to their roots in the classic Chicago house of Larry Heard and others, but that never dampens the excellent productions on The Children We Were.
