Hailing from the Bay Area, Guce has been around since the mid-'90s, working with West Coast all-stars including Messy Marv (as Bullys Wit Fullys), E-40, Too Short, and Killa Tay, among many others. He has released countless albums, mixtapes, and DVDs over the years, but he remains relatively unknown outside of California. On Guce Leroy—The Last Dragon, he namechecks the classic 1984 Motown flick, but aside from the intro and outro, that's where the similarities end. The 20 tracks here are a mishmash of street stories, hood pride, and shoutouts. Despite the overall repetitive nature, there are some real jams in the mix, specifically "Back to Love," "No Clothes," and the throwback vibe of both "IZM" and "I'll Never Change."
