A great dancer and good actor, Gregory Hines temporarily entered the music world in the late '80s and landed a fluke hit via a duet with Luther Vandross that was included on Vandross' album Give Me The Reason. Epic figured that since Hines already had enormous appeal and name recognition and had enjoyed one smash, they might be able to turn him into a recording star. The debut album quickly showed everyone the fallacy of that notion. Once the initial hype faded, Hines had the good sense to go back to acting and dancing full-time and restrict his singing to the Broadway stage.
