Details
[Edit]This split release contains three tracks each from a pair of stoner/doom hard rockers: ironically named newcomers Greatdayforup and relative scene veterans Solace. Up first, Greatdayforup make the best of their shot with a trio of excellent offerings characterized by varying tempos, tight guitar interplay, punchy production, and both clean-sung vocals and agonized shrieks. All of the songs have numerous strong suits and closer "Soul of a Motherf**ker" in particular, leaves one anxious for their next recordings. As for Solace, Tommy Southard and Co. have very little prove, and clearly take this opportunity to have a little laid-back fun, book-ending a pile-driving original ("Cement Stitches") with two compelling cover versions: the first being early-'70s prog rockers Rare Bird's "Hammerhead," and the second, a timeless Link Wray instrumental, "Rumble."
