Jazz-pop vocalist Gloria Lynne was more of an album artist than a maker of hit singles; during the period this anthology covers, she had seven hit albums, while her singles often struggled to break into the Top 100. Her biggest hit and only Top 40 entry, "I Wish You Love," is a gorgeous and tasteful rendition of an old pop standard that set the pattern for her subsequent singles, most of which were interpretations of pop oldies. Lynne performed pop/rock on occasion, too, such as "This Little Boy of Mine," a secular rewrite of the gospel song "This Little Light of Mine." "You Don't Have to Be a Tower of Strength," incorrectly listed as "Tower of Strength," is an answer song to Gene McDaniels' "Tower of Strength," but is more than a simple rewrite — it's a completely different song. Despite being billed as an expanded edition, The Greatest Hits doesn't compile all of Gloria Lynne's Everest hits ("Don't Take Your Love from Me" is omitted), but has all the big ones while offering four more tracks than Collectables' anthology Golden Classics, which it almost completely overlaps.
