Italian trumpeter Fabio Morgera adds American saxophonist George Garzone to the front line in what is a short but pleasant, though fairly pedestrian, set of seven pieces composed by the trumpeter. Garzone blows both soprano and tenor saxophones, but his solos are surprisingly modest, as he keeps well within the limits. Morgera is a fine trumpet player, but he never really emerges from his box, and sounds as though he is largely going through the motions. Still, the lovely, laid-back group sound sparks an attractive chord and rarely falters. The fine rhythm section of pianist Christian Jacob, bassist Gil Bocle, and drummer Marcello Pellitteri doesn't light many fires, and there is a sense that this rarely rises above a blowing session — albeit one that features some exemplary performers.
