Since its inception in 2010, French Montana’s Coke Boys mixtape series has played out as a showcase for industry friends and members of his Coke Boys crew—and often in that order. The fifth installment, CB5, is no different in this regard, with French providing a platform for a plethora of MCs from a wide array of backgrounds, in addition to officially recognized Coke Boy members Lil Durk and the dearly departed Chinx. Outside of the crew, CB5 features verses from fallen Brooklyn hero Pop Smoke, animated Kentucky upstart Jack Harlow, Baton Rouge pain music maestro YoungBoy Never Broke Again, rising Philadelphia barsmith LGP QUA, Washington state pop-rap MC Lil Mosey, and even onetime enemy Jim Jones. The guest MCs have been treated to opulent backdrops courtesy of producers like Harry Fraud, 808 Melo, jetsonmade, Tay Keith, and Hitmaka, all of whom do their part to make the project one of the most diverse hip-hop listens of the moment.
