Details

[Edit]

Swedish-born and London-based producer/DJ Eric Prydz has more aliases than all Wu-Tang Clan members combined. Since 2001, he's gone by Pryda, Moo, Sheridan, Groove System, Dirty Funker, Cirez D, Axer, Dukes of Sluca, Hardform, and A & P Project. With his long-awaited (and long-overdue) debut album, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda, he opens with “Shadows.” It's a club-tailored jam dappled with Alan Parsons Project samples and confectionary keyboard tones. “Javlar” boasts a Jekyll and Hyde personality, starting with rhythm-hyper tribal house and finishing with sophisticated electro elegance. The following “Sunburst” is another standout, making innovative use of a not-so-obvious sample from New Order’s “Blue Monday” while offering an analog tribute to Kraftwerk. They sexy and hypnotic “You” adds ethereal layers, making a trance-inspired composition where whispered female vocals coo over percolating beats. The deluxe version offers a generous helping of 25 bonus tracks.
