Northern California's Electro Group's debut full-length followed a series of singles from the noise pop band. After a playful introduction, the music swells with the noisy and My Bloody Valentine-influenced "La Ballena Alegria." The simple xylophone adds to the otherwise chaotic rock sound on "If You Could See." "Line of Sight" continues the band's style of shoegazer rock. Tim Jacobson's falsetto vocals are highlighted on "Line of Sight," an experimental and blustering pop song. Many of the songs, like "Cyrna Ruka," begin with modest tones, only to surprise the listener with a wall of sound right around the corner. "Can't Remember" stands out for its higher-pitched vocals and more restrained instrumentation. The title track is a simple, breezy instrumental. The disc ends with possibly the most powerful track of the disc, "Manimal," which races through a series of aggressive guitar work mixed with Jacobson's stretched-out vocals. The trio's music is certifiably frenzied, with an underlying simplicity and experimentation (with a healthy dose of Moogs and samples). A New Pacifica was recorded at California's Research Sound Recordings Studio and was released by Omnibus Records in 2000.
