[Edit]Arguably the best (and most certainly the longest-lasting) Boston rapper, Edo G has been bringing it since the mid-'80s, when he was a teen in the Fresh to Impress crew. He hit it big in 1991, when he and Da Bulldogs released the classic Life of a Kid in the Ghetto, sporting the hit singles "I Got to Have It" and "Be a Father to Your Child." While he's never reached superstar status, he remains immensely popular among hardcore heads both in the States and overseas. He's been steadily recording high-quality material over the years, with solo albums like The Truth Hurts and A Face in the Crowd, plus much-loved collabos such as Arts & Entertainment with Masta Ace and My Own Worst Enemy with Pete Rock. With his no-nonsense flow and always-intelligent lyricism, this aptly titled album sports strong production from Oh No and Microphono, plus cameos from Freestyle (of The Arsonists) and Noel Gourdin. It's thought-provoking and rock-solid, as usual. Highlights include "Done Talking," "Easy," "Bags & Shoes," and "Can't Wait."
