Details
[Edit]This CD from the short-lived Night label features the talented tenor Eddie Harris on two different occasions. From 1978 Harris is caught live at Keystone Korner in San Francisco, playing four superior standards plus his famous hit "Listen Here" while joined by pianist Jack Wilson, bassist Herbie Lewis and drummer Eddie Marshall. The three Chicago cuts from 1983 ("Chicago Serenade," "Sonnymoon for Two" and "Illusionary Dreams") not only showcase him on tenor but electric sax, some reed trumpet, piano and vocals along with pianist Rob Schneiderman, bassist Louis Spears and drummer Albert "Tootle" Heath. The recording quality is good and Harris sounds somewhat inspired on both occasions, emphasizing his roots in bebop while still sounding contemporary and original.
