[Edit]On Country Soul Guitar, guitarist and chicken picker extraordinaire Duke Levine blurs the lines between country twang, '50s soul and jazz to create a fine set of instrumentals that do much to showcase his considerable talents as a guitarist. Songs such as the opener, "I Think It's Going to Work Out Fine," and a blistering cover of Dylan's "Nashville Skyline Rag" show Levine as both a melodic and fierce lead guitarist, while the eight-minute "Low Lonesome" catches the instrumentalist at an atmospheric moment. Though songs on an instrumental album tend to blur together, Levine and company manage to keep it interesting through various tempo and style changes, as well as superb musicianship.
