Listeners might never imagine a combination of doo wop and reggae until they listen to this Dobby Dobson CD. He only really combines the two styles on "Baby Make It Soon"; the others are either one or the other. The Bee Gees' "Words," as well as "Mexican Divorce," "Halfway to Paradise," "Loving Pauper," and "Endlessly" are definitely reggae, while "This Is My Story," "Sweet Dreams," "Diamonds & Pearls," and some others owe their soul to doo wop. Then there's "Cry a Little Cry," something Dick Clark would have played on American Bandstand. On some tunes, including Smokey Robinson and Bobby Rogers' "What Love Has Joined Together," he phrases like Smokey, sounding similar but meatier. This is a versatile collection of songs that Dobson executes well; if you like variety, this one's for you.
