[Edit]Of Pakistani parents, Deepika Thathaal first came to people's notice as one of the contributors to Jan Garbarek and Fateh Ali Khan's collaborative Ragas and Sagas (ECM 1442), released the same year as I Alt Slags Lys. In 1994, she was recorded by Henry Kaiser and David Lindley for the Sweet Sunny North series for Shanachie. Deepika's album reflects her upbringing in Norway. Singing in Norwegian, she represents a fresh set of possibilities.
