Desert Moon Song is one of the first desert ambient CDs. Indeed, it comes from Tucson, AZ, certainly the birthplace of the style — Steve Roach has his studio there. But this is a totally different sound. There are few — if any — similarities between Evenson and Roach's styles. Evenson espouses a more peaceful and serene approach; his music finds the beauty of the desert and embraces the pastoral qualities of the Mohave. Roach gets his inspiration from the harshness of the desert. Either way, this is a quality CD and the desert is a tremendous source of inspiration. This disc, a new age classic, will appeal to fans of Tom Barabas, Steven Halpern, and Dik Darnell.
