Danny Elfman's score to The Next Three Days, a drama in which Russell Crowe plays a man who attempts to break his wife out of jail, believing her to have been wrongly convicted of murder, is not the collection of action cues that might have been expected, but rather a moody set of tracks full of ponderous piano parts and slow strings. The pace does pick up here and there, notably in "It's On," but the music suggests more of a psychological thriller in which things may not be what they seem than a heart-pounding action picture. The lengthy soundtrack album also includes two characteristic Moby tracks, one of which, "Be the One," was written for the film. They fit right in.
