[Edit]Rafael Cortijo reaches the 80s and produced, along arrangers Louis García, Lenny Prieto and producer Frank Ferrer, one of his truly greatest recordings. Fe Cortijo and Ismael Rivera, Jr (son of the influential singer, in his first recording) shine in every cut in blisteringly furious, dynamic performances; bomba and plena continue to be the bandleader's main source of exploration, as attested in tunes like the joyful "Elena, Elena", the news-divulging "Cirilo Sánchez", an old- time story; "Gotas de veneno" is intoxicatingly vigorous; "Bambolae" has a zouk flavor, "Con un solo pie" is a rabid comparsa; this production that the Puerto Rican national rhythms have still enough vigor and stamina to be consider as popular music commodity.
