This Bay Area trio's five-song EP begs to be cranked up nice and loud. Opening tune "Jan Michael Vincent" (remember him?) fires up all eight cylinders only to simmer down and start all over again, like a boulevard of red lights and no speed limit. Fuzzy basslines amidst a constant crash cymbal hiss leave guitarist Wade Driver's raspy, yearning vocals cutting through the mix. Imagine Mudhoney if they were big Plimsouls fans, and you'll get the picture. The closer, "You Had to Be There," is a live-to-cassette rendition of their Madonna/Paula Abdul medley. It's ten-plus minutes of all-out mayhem and hilarity, with a truly psychotic guitar freakout. The song ends in chaotic shambles, much like Ms. Abdul's career did.
