[Edit]Although Battle of the Ants is over 40 minutes long, it's classified as an EP; it finds Compression continuing to assemble their various strains of alternative metal into a coherent whole, mixing detuned metal riffs, white guitar noise, aggressive electronic programming, and moody atmospherics into one dark, pummeling vision. Their songwriting still dissolves into a focus on sonic textures from time to time, but overall, the EP demonstrates their growing assurance.
