Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen were one of the very first country-rock groups, with guitarist Bill Kirchen who later moved on to a successful solo career of his own. Although much of the material consists of retreads of old and sometimes obscure country standards, the group handles the material with a tongue-in-cheek attitude, tempering that with a heartfelt understanding of it at the same time. A marvelous document of one of the more unique groups of the '70s.
