Commander Cody (a.k.a. George Frayne) has been playing some of these songs since the late '60s, yet he never loses the spark. He doesn't phone it in or go home early. He still loves the music as he did when he started. Like many older musicians, he's given up any pretense whatsoever of ever having a "pop" hit. "Hot Rod Lincoln" was a lifetime ago, and here it's being played for an enthusiastic crowd in his adopted hometown of Bayshore on New York's Long Island. Drummer Steve Barbuto, bassist Randy Bramwell, and guitarist Mark Emerick are joined by Professor Louie and Miss Marie of The Crowmatix, while Bill Kirchen (a member of Cody's original Lost Planet Airman) joins them for "Too Much Fun." Anyone with an interest in no-nonsense blues-based rock 'n' roll (with lots of boogie-woogie and other long-running if less respected genres) should find the right balance of energy and musicianship on "Lone Ranger," "House of Blue Lights," and "Lost in the Ozone Again."
