As City Harbor, singer/songwriters Molly Reed and Robby Earle spread the Good News with a vibrant harmony sound reminiscent of fellow Christian duos Copperlilly and Love & The Outcome. Their self-titled debut album accentuates the positive as they reach out to the bruised, broken, and under-loved. While some of the Nashville-based pair’s tunes could almost be mistaken for secular love songs, a close listening reveals God at the center of every lyric. The album’s key message is contained in the single “Come However You Are,” an inclusive anthem full of sparkle and bounce. A bittersweet edge lends songs like “Somebody Tell Them,” “Like I Am," and “Your Love Still Wins” a sense of struggle as well as final redemption. “I’m not defined by my mistakes, only by Your love,” Earle sings in “I Still Believe,” emphasizing that failure is a precursor to grace. Musically, the album’s tracks combine acoustic and electric textures under the experienced guidance of producers Ben Glover and Matt Bronleewee. City Harbor closes with “Leave It Here,” a statement of forgiveness dressed up with rock guitar and strings.
