Another Time Another Space is an offshoot project of Incognito founder Jean Paul "Bluey" Maunick, and focuses on an instrumental smooth jazz sound. His new band Citrus Sun includes former Average White Band guitarist Jim Mullen, drummer Richard Bailey, bassist Julian Crampton of Incognito, pianist Tim Vine from Simply Red, and a horn section featuring Ed Jones on saxophone, Fayazz Virgi on trombone, and Dominic Glover on trumpet. Together they fuse the subtle elements of Latin, funk, and jazz within an atmosphere of cool but sparse melodies. Maunick composed six of the 11 songs; the arrangements straddle the line between cool and smooth jazz. From a sweet, mellow guitar lead on "Tanya's Song" to saxophonist Ed Jones defining the soul of a city on "Budapest," the listener can feel the influence of Maunick's imaginative interpretations and fluid style. "Another Time, Another Space" adds another dimension to the smooth grooves with its focus on the horn charts. Jim Mullen adeptly weaves his guitar lines around the Latin groove. Citrus Sun is the second Incognito offshoot project, but this approach has Maunick collaborating with band members. Another Time Another Space exceeds the scope of Inner Shade by Maysa Leak, which was also produced by Maunick in 1999.
