Very much ahead of their time in their original 1977 to 1982 incarnation, Chrome fused pre-industrial beats with jagged guitar textures, electronic noisemaking, and found sounds to created a new, vital sound that would anticipate much what would happen in experimental and electronic music in the decades to come. In 2012, Chrome leader Helios Creed discovered a cache of lost tapes featuring unheard compositions from the sessions for 1979's Half Machine Lip Moves and 1980's Red Exposure; the group launched a crowdfunding campaign to buy back the master tapes (which were seized when the group forgot to pay a bill at a recording studio), and in late 2013 the recordings, remixed and restored to sound the way the artists had intended, were released as Half Machine from the Sun: The Lost Tracks from '79-'80. These long-lost compositions are at once an extension of Chrome's music from an important and prolific period and an example of how their prescient approach remains relevant in the 21st century.
