[Edit]

A super-lyrical New Jersey rapper who's been rhyming since the late '80s, Chino XL is best known for his classic 1996 debut album, Here to Save You All. A master of wild punch lines, deep metaphors, and intricately layered verses, he was a huge influence on Eminem, though he never reached Em's commercial success. Over the last decade, he's dropped a handful of decent indie albums (I Told You So, Poison Pen, and Something Sacred), but he's found more mainstream success with his acting career, appearing in several movies and TV shows like CSI: Miami and Reno 911!. RICANstruction is his fifth solo album, which finds him linking up with rap royalty including Tech N9ne ("Hell Song"), Immortal Technique ("Arm Yourself"), and Bun B ("X Your Heart"). With 36 tracks there's a lot to digest, but Chino shows why he still has such a dedicated following nearly two decades after his debut. Other bangers include an unreleased collabo with Big Pun (!) called "Kings," plus the posse cut "Latinos Stand Up (Remix)" featuring B-Real, Thirstin Howl III, Kid Frost, and Sick Jacken.
