Broughton allows his nuanced melodies to speak for themselves, eschewing bombast and saccharinity in favor of understated orchestrations that nevertheless convey human drama in stunning detail. Percepto's limited-edition 2001 reissue appends 30 minutes of additional music cut from the original Varese Sarabande release as well as excellent liner notes highlighted by Broughton commentary.
