Two established veterans from Sacramento, Brotha Lynch Hung and C-Bo have been putting out records since the early '90s; Lynch debuted in 1993 with 24 Deep (after producing X-Raided's classic Psychoactive the previous year), while C-Bo dropped Gas Chamber also in 1993. Both of them were a little too extreme for commercial superstardom but were huge influences on most West Coast rap stars and have remained independently successful, running their own labels for several decades now. Released in 2001, Blocc Movement was originally supposed to be by Thug Lordz (C-Bo and Yukmouth), but Yuk was replaced by Lynch, who recorded his vocals while C-Bo served a prison stretch. Despite the impersonal recording process, the Sac-Town OGs sound perfect together, with contrasting vocal styles that mesh well. Unapologetically hardcore, this is Golden State murder and mayhem rap at its finest. Standouts include "Don't Stop" with Spice 1, "Gangsta" featuring Kam, and the Tech N9ne collabo "187 on the Hook."
