Waiting for the Galciers to Melt (Digital Version)

Brian Lane Green has a fairly distinguished career as a TV and stage actor, but despite a long string of vocal credits, Waiting for the Glaciers to Melt is his debut as a singer/songwriter. Though the majority of his credits are in musical theater, Green is a good Tennessee boy, and there's a strong country influence on much of the album. Unfortunately, Green's taste isn't for the raucous roadhouse style of country, but for treacly ballads like "Dad and Me." Green is a solidly dependable vocalist, although one with occasional lapses into mannered overenunciation (a trap which all musical theater vets have to be careful of) and overdramatic phrasing (ditto). He is, sadly, no better than average as a songwriter, prone to weak rhymes and clichéd sentiments set to pleasant but unmemorable melodies. As a result, Waiting for the Glaciers to Melt is a strongly performed, well-sung collection of rather mediocre songs.
