[Edit]Trumpeter Bobby Shew gets to display his love for Afro-Cuban jazz on this highly enjoyable CD. He teams up with quite a few notables from the field: trombonist Art Velasco, Justo Almario on tenor and flute, pianist Mark Levine, bassist Eddie Resto, Papo Rodriguez on bongos, Tiki Pasillas on timbales, and Michito Sanchez on congas plus guest trumpeter Sal Cracchiolo. Among the highlights are "Cubano Chant," Cal Tjader's "Paunetto's Point," and "Elation." Shew sounds quite comfortable in this setting, with the results being delightful and infectious.
