Brutally honest but not otherwise brutal, Christian rapper Bizzle leads by example on his aptly titled 2013 album The Good Fight, challenging his challengers during the highlight "Against You" with "They say 'What you rap about Christ for?'/I don’t know, what you rap about ice for?/You see homie the Lord is my life so/That’s what like askin’ what I rap about life for." "You Know" takes on rappers and their whack lyrics ("You’ve been given a voice and you just abuse it!") in a mainstream swagger style, even if Bizzle’s beef is with the content of radio rap and not necessarily the quality. Speaking of quality, superstar producer Boi-1da handles the choice beats on the album with the great "Options" coming with a nostalgic, full-on blast of ‘60s-inspired soul music, while Bizzle himself is a craftsman, filling his persuasive calls to the Good Book with rhymes that are tricky and bright. Bad news is that the album is overstuffed, running 21 tracks long, but cut it into two listens, and this fight remains quite good.
