This Billy Taylor Trio LP contains a 1954 concert at Town Hall, with the pianist accompanied by bassist Earl May and drummer Percy Brice. The music primarily consists of well-played standards, including a tour de force interpretation of "Sweet Georgia Brown" during which Taylor shows off his formidable technique. "How High the Moon" gives May and Brice the opportunity to solo, followed by a romp through the ever-popular "I'll Remember April." The one Taylor original present is "Theodora," a soft ballad written for his wife. This long out of print record will be somewhat difficult to find but it is worth the search for fans of Billy Taylor.
